My Christmas Card

As Christmas and the Holiday Season showers upon us, I can’t help but think of the people who look at this time as just another day, another weekend. I am sure there are many. But, I doubt that they always felt that way.
Life can change us. It can inspire us to move towards improved health and greater contentment, or, move us towards sadness, despair, and poor choices.

As I sit in my apartment and write, I can’t help but weigh my options.  On one hand, I never imagined myself as a middle-aged physician living in a cozy two bedroom apartment, divorced, and constantly curious if my bank account was in the red. I never thought I’d be driven to sublimate and have a ‘weight issue’. And, if I focus to think about what I have had and lost, feeling hopeless would be as easy as flipping a light switch. Yet, on the other hand, despite it being a challenging year for all of us, I’m not homeless, I have a job, and, no one I am close to, including myself, died from the pandemic that has affected us all. Now, should I choose to focus on those realities, I feel content and blessed, and, consequently, hopeful and excited. Should I choose to focus on life’s good and its opportunities rather than it’s failures, I can look at this time as something beautiful and special. I can be content and genuinely wish each and everyone of you a great Christmas!

So, this Christmas, what I want most of all for all of us is love. Love for who we are as individuals and the lives we are living, and, to feel secure in the love that others have for us.
And, for those who find themselves thinking that this weekend is just another weekend, I would only say, “I’m sorry, let me help, it doesn’t have to be.” After all, the best present of all is just being here.

Remember, today and everyday, live your value one choice at a time, and, maybe this weekend, we can help others see the joy of the season and live their value as well. After all, the memories we form shape our future. So, wouldn’t it be nice for everyone to believe and feel that this weekend was not just another weekend? Well, maybe those that don’t believe need us to show them.

I thank you all for your continued support of my writing and my web page. My book, Claire’s Story should be available in the next couple of months. Got to say, I’m excited, it’s been awhile since my first book, Screw This – Let’s Be Real.

I want to wish each of you a very special weekend, a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
